A reoccurring element in my work is the tension between destruction and production. In the Canvas Sculpture series from 2017 and 2018, I subvert the conceptual and physical underlying structure of canvas. Once unwoven, the singularity of the object becomes a multiplicity of new objects; canvas metamorphizes into threads, changing the material’s identity. At the same time, the act of de-threading canvas resembles a laboring working class’s repetitive actions like laying brick or factory line assembly.
